Minnehaha County, South Dakota
Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office offers fingerprinting services for the general public who are required to submit them for job application, licensing, etc., as well as pre-employment fingerprinting for both Minnehaha County and the City of Sioux Falls.
An appointment is necessary to have your fingerprints taken. Please call (605) 367-4300 to schedule an appointment.
Persons requesting fingerprinting services will be required to provide identification as a method of verifying an individual’s identity. Copies, photographs, or expired forms of identification will not be accepted.
As a primary form of photo identification, current forms of one of following documents will need to be presented by an individual when being fingerprinted:
However, in the absence of a primary form of photo identification, individuals may provide at least 2 secondary identification documents from the following list:
If you are signing up to be fingerprinted for an Enhanced Pistol Permit, new or renewal, you will also need to bring the certificate from the firearms course that you have completed.
Most fingerprints are collected using a computer-based printing software that does not require ink. Fingerprint cards are provided for those who do not have their own. Please do not write on any print cards as the software prints the information in the boxes appropriately.
The cost to the public is $12.50/card. Payment of cash or check can be accepted. If paying with a check, we accept in-state checks only, no out-of-state checks.
There is no cost for fingerprints related to concealed pistol permits.
We accept credit cards. There is a service fee of $2 on payments up to $50, and then 4% service charge on larger amounts.
We offer fingerprinting by appointment only on the following days:
Tuesday - 9am - 5pm
Wednesday - 9am - 5pm
